Roma Devanbu
Roma Devanbu grew up in New Jersey. She received her B.F.A. at Carnegie Mellon University and spent a year studying art history at the M.S. University of Baroda in Gujarat, India, before returning to the U.S. to earn an M.F.A. at Pratt Institute. Devanbu has a full time art practice and is a studio resident at Verge Center for the Arts. Devanbu works in a wide range of materials from small scissor-cut paper collages to large-scale, laser cut,l aluminum compositions. Devanbu’s work is in many corporate collections and can be seen in public spaces, including a number of California hospitals. The human compulsion to create and decorate and to imbue abstraction with meaning is a recurring theme in Devanbu’s art. Her interest is both theoretical and personal.
